This day, tutorials were supposed to take place; however, Mr. Seaton and 2 tutors were absent, so the boys organized their binders, as well as caught up on any missing work they may have had.

Today, we had a teacher-taught lesson on goals. The boys learned the difference between a long-range, mid-range, and short-range goal. We finished by having them to come up with their own goals, with action steps.

On this day, we had binder checks and the boys taught each other the difference between goals and wishes in their own way. They did this by way of group created lessons. Some did slides presentations, some did posters, and others did skits!

On this day, we tied up a few loose ends, including our letters to HL Precision Manufacturing and Dr. Smoot, as well as our Goals vs. Wishes lessons. The boys will be teaching each other on Friday! Also, we prepared for Friday's binder checks.

On this day, we took a trip to Millikin University to visit the campus. Students visited the observatory (largest in the state), participated in a VR activity, toured the campus, and enjoyed a quality campus buffet lunch!

On this day, we took some time to refresh on focused note taking. As a whole, the boys' focused notes have been mediocre. Instead of blaming them, it was safer to assume it was because they didn't know better. Hopefully the lesson helped!

This day was full of activity! We took a field trip to HL Precision Manufacturing in Champaign, IL. Many of the guys were interested in the presentation. When we returned, we were graced with the presence of Dr. Pamela Smoot, history professor in the SIUC College of Liberal Arts.

On this day, we prepared for Friday's binder checks. We planned on having somewhat of a celebration because Wednesday's tutorials were a success; however, the focus note turn in was mediocre, so the celebration was postponed.

Today, we had a quick discussion about upholding the expectations of AVID in and out of the classroom, we turned in focused notes, and prepared for tomorrow's binder check.

On this day, the boys were introduced to the Socratic seminar, an "activity" that creates a forum where students can hone the skill of having a dialogue by discussing a given topic, after doing research on it.

Today was a productive day! There was good conversation with the tutors as we reviewed and created TRFs in preparation for tutorials. We will be in a routine soon!

On this day, the boys had a review of the 10 steps of the AVID tutorial process.

What an amazing day! Today felt like AVID! The AVID boys went around to 7th grade flex classes to, "recruiting" potential AVID students by way of slide presentations that they created. They definitely peaked the interest of some students. My only regret is that I did not get pictures of them in action. It won't happen again. We visit the 6th graders on Friday.

On this day, we took some time to update our planners. We also learned how to properly interact with our notes, the AVID "Cornell Way."

This day was a fun day! During lunch and 8th hour, the boys participated in one of our AVID Rush Week activities, the outside activity day. They played some basketball and football, we had a water balloon and egg toss, and we had a sack race! We were joined by prospective AVID students that we hope will submit an AVID application.

On this day, we had a mock binder check and we continued to plan for AVID Rush Week!

Today we did 4 parts of the Cornell notes. They took notes on the for parts of the Cornell notes.And we are planning rush week.

Today, we began planning for our AVID rush campaign, which is when we make presentations and host activities the generate excitement about AVID in order to boost our AVID student enrollment.
